PIMPLES
Isn’t is ironic how whenever we have a special occasion like a date or a wedding, pesky pimples seem to rear their ugly heads? I was attending a convention this past weekend where I was going to be photographed and OF COURSE I had a huge pimple pop up the day before. Fortunately, I have a product that I absolutely LOVE that keeps my pimples in check. As soon as I notice a pimple coming through, I grab my Yes to Tomatoes Detoxifying Facial Charcoal Cleanser . I swear by it. When I use this product right at the first sign of a pimple, I feel like it stops the pimple right in its tracks. It even keeps the pimple from getting to the gross “white-head” stage most of the time. Truth be told though, I would probably get more benefits if I remembered to use it every day, rather than just when I spot a pimple. In fact, the best way to ensure you don’t have to deal with pimples is to make sure you are washing your face every day. Try following up with a toner also as that can help replenish skin, close and minimize pores, and even moisturize skin. Personally, I like Simple Soothing Facial Toner .
5 Skin Disasters and How to Destroy Them
First date tonight? Don't let these disasters ruin your evening.
CHAPPED LIPS
I battle with chapped lips a lot. Especially in the winter. I have tried many brand of lip moisturizers and balms, and even the most common brands just don’t make my lips smooth and kissable. It took me a while but I finally found a lip moisturizer that I cannot live without. I love TONYMOLY Liptone Lipcare Stick . It really makes my lips so soft, and they stay that way a lot longer than with the other brands.

COLD SORES
Many people who experience cold sores regularly may be treated with a prescription medication. However, if do not receive a prescription, there are have a couple of products that many swear by. Fortunately, I have never had to battle with cold sores, but there are two products that I have heard work well. The first is Abreva . You have probably seen this product on commercials or at your local drug store. This FDA approved medication is an antiviral, and can help to shorten the duration of a cold sore. It works best if you use it at the very first tingle of a cold sore. If you would rather try a more natural route, tea tree oil can also be helpful in decreasing the duration of cold sores.  Tea tree oil has healing properties, and in some cases it has been found to shorten cold sore duration from a week or more to just a few days.
DANDRUFF
I constantly have to battle with the pesky flakes. I use to have people come up to me and tell me I had crumbs in my hair. NO LIE. It was so embarrassing. I tried a bunch of shampoos to treat it. From all of these common anti-dandruff shampoo brands to tea tree shampoo which was recommended at a salon. NOTHING WORKED. When I went on my first date with my boyfriend, I remember sitting in my car picking out the flakes one by one to try to make sure I didn’t look like I got snowed on when he saw me. After that, I knew I had to get this under control. I decided to try out Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo Extra Strength . I don’t know how I ever survived without this medicated shampoo. I am practically flake free since using this shampoo, and my scalp doesn’t itch either. If you try this shampoo, make sure you use a good conditioner as I found it made my hair feel dry. I pair it with Head and Shoulders Dry Scalp Care with Almond Oil , and my hair feels silky.
DRY SKIN/ECZEMA
One of the kids I nanny for has very bad eczema. My boss and I tried several lotions to try to treat it. Even after applying these lotions twice a day, his eczema was still horrible. Scabs and crusty dry areas riddled his legs and back and because I work as a nanny, it sometimes leads me to spend a long time at the sink cleaning dishes. This dries my hands out like nothing else. When I am going out with my boyfriend, the last thing I want is to have dry, rough hands.  One solution is Simple Sugars with Emu Oil , a sugar scrub that takes away the need for lotion. We are all about women owned businesses and Lani Lazzari started this as a child and went big when she went on Shark Tank after graduating high school. Be sure to remember, when looking for moisturizers or any type of cosmetics (even shampoos and conditioners) avoid ingredients like methanol, ethanol or ethyl alcohol, and isopropyl alcohol as they tend to actually dry out skin.

While these tips work great for some, they may not be effective for everyone. If you are experiencing any of these skin-related conditions, maybe products that didn’t work for me may work for you. Keep looking. You can always speak to your health care provider to see what methods work best for you. When trying to treat conditions, it is important to be weary of old fashioned home remedies (like using toothpaste for pimples). These treatments may or may not work, and could potentially damage your skin. Definitely be sure to talk to your health care provider before attempting any homemade treatment.
